This talk introduces the relationship between quantum technology and artificial intelligence (AI). It explains (1) how modern AI methods can accelerate the development and operation of quantum hardware and experiments, and (2) how quantum computing may enable new forms of machine learning. The goal is to give technology-oriented overview of where the field stands today, with particular emphasis on the distinction between realistic near-term technological goals and open research challenges.
